Summary:
Ensure the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and the building and grounds by enforcing school rules and investigating incidents on school property.
Position Information:
Full-Time, with benefits 8 hours per day, 184 days per year Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Work in conjunction with the District's Safety & Security Supervisor to provide leadership in patrolling and monitoring school campuses and carrying out the district's All Hazards Plan.
Intervene to isolate confrontations and prevent disturbances such as fights/assaults, harassment, theft, vandalism, and any other violations of the law, policies, and procedures to isolate trouble areas and maintain the safety of all individuals on the school campus.
Uses a variety of acceptable techniques in crowd control, passive restraint and verbal persuasive measure to isolate trouble and provide maximum safety for all individuals on campus.
Responds to all fire alarms, medical emergencies, and other service calls.
Notifies administrative superiors, as directed, of all unusual or emergency conditions.
Monitor and review security cameras located throughout the school campus to identify individuals involved in incidences.
Investigate all incidents using visual and interrogative skills and techniques.
Collect, review, and analyze activity reports for completeness and accuracy prepared by personnel, as requested.
Record, compile, and prepare descriptive detailed written and oral reports and ensure accurate reporting of all data, as requested.
Monitor reports to evaluate statistical data and detect patterns of inappropriate or illegal activities.
Make recommendations to improve district needs, current security methods and procedures, and personnel assignments based on observation and data analysis.
Review and present all reports and findings with administrative superiors on a regular basis.
Serve as liaison between local police departments and the district to report incidences that require police action.
Assist administration with developing plans, policies, procedures and detailed instructions pertaining to school safety and security.
Provide oversight and guidance to school administration regarding school hazards and vulnerabilities both interior and exterior of the facility.
Attend civilian, law enforcement, and district conferences for schooling and education pertaining to assigned position.
Assist with All-hazards planning and preparation at school level and provide guidance for exercises and drills.
Complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, as needed/requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
One (1) year experience in security or law enforcement and or a commensurate Associates degree.
Associates degree Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, clean driving record, ability to drive center vehicles desirable Capable and able to perform all operations associated with CCTV Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the PA School Code) Submission of the following clearances:
PA State Criminal History Record (Act 34 & Act 114), PA Dept.
of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151 & Act 114), Federal (FBI) Background Check (Act 24) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Job Type:
