Summary:
Set the vision and align the strategies for the district communications program to the District's strategic plan.
Design and implement internal and external communications programs that foster a positive image for Hempfield School District.
Build community relationships to improve awareness, understanding and support for the district's programs and services.
Sustain two-way communications with key stakeholders.
Position Information:
Full-Time with benefits 8 hours/day, 261 days/year Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Direct the district's internal and external communications programs by identifying strategic goals and objectives and developing plans to meet the goals.
Execute and monitor plans in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator.
Anticipate organizational needs and develop proactive solutions in concert with members of the leadership team.
Manage media inquiries, coordinate media interviews, work to maintain positive relationships with media members, and provide media training to designated spokespeople, as needed.
Serve as the district spokesperson, when appropriate.
Collaborate with the Board of School Directors regarding communication strategies for Board topics.
Provide guidance and support for communications/responses to the media and/or community, as needed.
Attend all regular and committee meetings of the Board of School Directors and respond to media in attendance, as necessary.
Develop relationships and utilize key influencers to help support initiatives of the district and serve as brand advocates.
Serve as a liaison to connect external organizations to appropriate personnel within the district.
Collaborate with district and building leaders to improve/strengthen district and building-level communications and customer relations.
Provide training and ongoing support to individual buildings and departments in the implementation of their communications.
Coordinate district-wide publications from concept to completion and arrange distribution/mailing.
Research and seek new opportunities for communicating with key constituent groups.
Assist in developing and updating website communications, content, and images.
Manage strategy and content creation for social media channels.
Continually monitor and exercise good judgment in resolving issues on social media.
Provide training to staff on social media.
Attend planning meetings for the district's monthly news program, Hempfield Happenings and serve as a resource to Comm Tech students and advisor.
Assist in planning agenda items and meetings for advisory groups such as the Superintendents' Parent Advisory Council.
Serve as the point of contact/liaison between Market Street Sports Group (MSSG) and the district for coordinating district-wide sponsorships.
Assist in the planning and execution of district-level events and activities such as the Black Knight Awards, retirees' dinner/recognition, and others.
Manage the department's budget, materials, equipment, and staff.
Design, conduct, and analyze results of climate and other types of surveys for internal and external audiences.
Serve as a resource and provide training on communications and customer service-related topics and initiatives.
Monitor results of initiatives implemented and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Conduct environmental scans to assist in the proactive identification of issues percolating in the district and monitor.
Build and manage programs to address key issues in a proactive manner.
Work with internal and external groups to communicate serious incidents/crisis in an accurate and timely fashion to keep constituents informed using established protocols, procedures, and channels.
Review and adjust strategies as needed.
Fulfill roles and responsibilities in implementing the school district's Emergency Management Plans.
Work closely with the superintendent on communications and reputation management for the district.
Provide leadership and serve as a positive ambassador who is part of a proactive, collaborative team working to achieve the mission and vision of the school district.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
At least five (5) years' experience in communications, public relations, business administration or related field preferred Bachelor's degree required Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the PA School Code Submission of the following clearances:
PA State Criminal History Record, PA Child Abuse History, Federal (FBI) Background Check Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Job Type:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
